Easy Baked Apples with Roasted Hazelnuts
Baked Apples are my favorite fall dessert. I can eat them every day, all fall long, and this Super Easy Baked Apples recipe is the best. With the holidays right around the corner, you might be looking for something easy and delicious to serve to your family and friends this season. You are in luck, because this dessert is not only tasty and full of flavor, but is also healthy.
These apples would go as a perfect dessert, after a good savory meal like my famous grilled lamb chops and corn salad! Makes me hungry just thinking about it!
Ingredients:
6 Honeycrisp apples
10 tbsp farmers cheese
1/3 cup chopped roasted hazelnuts
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
2 tbsp brown sugar
2 tbsp unsalted butter (cold)
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees
- Slice approximately 1/3 off of the top of the apples and scoop out the core, leaving a well in the center.
- In a bowl, mix together farmers cheese, brown sugar, hazelnuts and cinnamon.
- Fill each apple with the cheese mixture
- Place stuffed apples in a deep baking dish, topping each apple with 1/2 tbsp of butter.
- Pour around 1/2″ of water into the baking pan and bake for about an hour, until apples are tender.
Note!
In general, baked apples can be prepared ahead. After baking, cover and refrigerate them for up to 5 days, then reheat to warm.
